Salpointe girls tennis beat Gila Ridge 5-0 on Tuesday at the Tucson Racquet Club to open up the spring playoff season and then followed that up with a 5-0 win over Chandler Prep in beach volleyball.
St. Augustine is hoping to host the first playoff game in program history. The Wolves were forced to play home games at various venues in the Tucson area in their first 14 years of existence until the school built a field on their campus last year.
Kristie Stevens coached Catalina Foothills to 14 team titles, 11 doubles championships and 10 singles championships. She will now be the AD at Ironwood Ridge.
The beach volleyball regular season ends on Thursday and the first round of the state playoffs is slated to begin on Tuesday, April 23. There are ten automatic qualifiers between the two divisions and nine of those have been spoken for.
