Catalina Foothills put together the best round (+8, 296) of the Mesa City Championships on Saturday, Oct. 22 to win the trophy by one stroke over Red Mountain (602-603). Red Mountain led the field by six strokes after the first round on Friday.
Sahuaro sophomore standout Halley Hughes played even on her first three holes and even on the last three to hold off her teammate Serenity Guerrero 39 to 40 Thursday afternoon at the Dell Urich Golf Course in Tucson. The two helped Sahuaro score 178 as a team to defeat Buena (209) and Rincon/University (230).
Flowing Wells High School will be inducting their Fourteenth class into the Sports Hall of Fame on Friday September 30, 2016. The induction ceremony will be prior to the football game against Amphitheater High School.
Cactus Shadows junior standout Jake Benanti played as even as can play to capture the championship of the Rivalry Cup held this past Friday and Saturday at the Stonecreek Golf Club. Benanti shot an even 71 on Friday and an even 71 (142) to defeat Highland senior Brock Goyen 142-148.
Canyon del Oro scored an even 144 to get past Rincon/University (154) and Flowing Wells (216) at the Oro Valley Country Club on Thursday. Trevor Gregoire and Lance Picton paced the Dorados with a 1-under 35. Rincon standout Dallan Graybill also shot a 35.
