Mesa Mountain View coach Chad DeGrenier got his first win with his new school as the Toros used a balanced attack to blow past Mesa Skyline 27-14 in Division I play on Friday.
Chase Funk threw for 170 yards and a touchdown and Jeff Castillo ran for 86 more and two TDs for the Toros, who had been blown out in their first two games of the season.
Funk found Joe Clark repeatedly in the flat, connecting with him on nine passes for 152 yards, the topper an 80-yard TD pass that gave Mountain View a 19-0 lead with 4:25 left in the third quarter.
Mountain View also held Skyline quarterback Michael Amado in check, shutting out the Coyote offense until the fourth quarter.
The weather did force a 30-minute delay in the third quarter and cut the game short by 58 seconds at the end.
