The 1st annual House of Payne Volleyball Invitational takes place starting the morning of Friday Sept. 2 and continuing through Saturday afternoon Sept. 3 at Chandler High School. It's one of the first in a long line of invitationals set to come down the pike over the next seven weeks or so.

Twelve teams - led by Desert Ridge, Liberty, Fairfax and Valley Vista  -- are entered. The rest of the field is Chandler, Boulder Creek, Perry, Campo Verde, Marcos de Niza, Mesa, Red Mountain and Marana Mountain View. All teams are guaranteed eight matches. Opening matches are Friday at 10 a.m. and continue through approximately 5 p.m. Action resumes Saturday at 8 a.m. with final bracket play commencing early in the afternoon. A four-team gold bracket, four-team silver bracket and four-team consolation bracket will round out the invitational.
