Chaparral Invitational

Sept. 15-16: Gainey Ranch – Arroyo

 

Canyon del Oro standout Jonathan Walters carded a 9-under 135 to capture the championship of the Chaparral Invitational held at the Gainey Ranch – Arroyo course this past weekend. Walters shot a 63 on Saturday to hold off Jack Whisler of Chaparral and Dominic Wade of Notre Dame Prep.

Walters birdied the 15th hole to pass Whisler by one stroke and Wade shot a par on the final hole to fall back in a tie with Whisler. The course record for the Arroyo course is 62. For high school scoring purposes, Walters shot a 32 on the front nine on Saturday.

As a team, Chaparral finished three strokes ahead of Arcadia for the team title.
