Four players with Arizona prep ties were drafted Tuesday on the second day of the 2017 MLB draft bringing the total of former Arizona prep players selected to five.

Chaparral's Jacob Gonzalez, who was taken 58th overall by San Francisco and expected to go in the first three rounds, was the lone Arizona prep player selected on Monday.

Joining Gonzalez Tuesday were: Marcel Renteria, a right-handed pitcher for New Mexico State, who played at Nogales High. Renteria was selected in the sixth round by the New York Mets. MIT shortstop Austin Filiere, a Hamilton grad, was tabbed in the eighth round by the Chicago Cubs.

New Mexico first baseman Jack Zoellner was taken in the ninth round by the Philadelphia Phillies. Zoellner played at Gilbert High. Chosen in the 10th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks completing the second day of the draft was Cal St. Bakersfield shortstop Ryan Grotjohn. Grotjohn played at Brophy Prep.
