D-I/D-II softball elimination results from May 11

Defending Division I champion Sandra Day O'Connor took a couple innings to get going, but once it did it was too much for upstart Chandler to handle.
No. 4 seed SDO scored five runs in the third inning and put the game away with five more in the fifth to defeat No. 11 Chandler, 12-5, in an elimination game at Rose Mofford Softball Complex.
Amber Brewer collected four hits, including a home run and double and drove in three runs for SDO. Her two-run homer highlighted the five-run, third inning. Sierra Rodriguez also had three RBI and Savanna Avila, Grace Lyons and Madison Westmoreland checked in with three hits each. SDO produced 18 hits in all. Brooke Brown go the win going 4 2/3 innings and allowing all five Chandler runs. Stevie McLemore closed it out with 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
Sydney Behrens delivered a three-run homer in the fifth inning for Chandler that pulled the Wolves within 7-5, but SDO came back in the bottom half with another five-spot. A two-run single by Rodriguez was the key hit for SDO in the fifth.
SDO plays another elimination game Thursday (May 12) against top-seed Desert Vista at 6:30 at Rose Mofford. Desert Vista stayed alive by blanking No. 7 Campo Verde, 8-0. The Thunder jumped out to an early lead with five runs in the first two innings. Kiara Kennedy and Jill Navarro homered to help the Thunder get untracked. Brooke Hughes pitched a complete-game, two-hitter. The win avenged a regular-season loss to the Coyotes.
SDO and Desert Vista's only losses in the tournament are to Hamilton. Hamilton and Pinnacle play Thursday (May 12) st 6:30 at Rose Mofford with the winner gaining a title-game berth and the loser left to play an elimination game on Friday (May 13) against the SDO-Desert Vista winner.
D-II
No. 5 seed Arcadia stuck up for the Valley on Wednesday by eliminating one of the four Tucson contingents in the final six with ease. The Titans whitewashed No. 3 Sahuaro,10-0, behind the three-hit pitching of Emily Ingles.
Ingles struck out 12, walked one and the three hits were all singles. Mae Forshey had three hits (two doubles and a homer) and knocked in three runs. Regan Kerr added three hits and 4 RBI for the winners. Arcadia plays another elimination game Thursday (May 12) against Salpointe at 6:30 at Rose Mofford. Salpointe advanced by beating Tucson High, 13-7, on Wednesday. Sahuaro was unbeaten heading to play Tuesday, but suffered back-to-back shutout defeats to finish its season. The Arcadia-Salpointe winner will play again on Friday (May 13) against the Ironwood Ridge (No.2 seed)--Cactus (No. 4 seed) loser on Thursday.
