MaxPreps/WBCA Players of the Week for Week 3: December 14 - December 20, 2015

ATLANTA (December 21, 2015) – The WBCA has announced the winners of its High School Players of the Week presented by MaxPreps for the week ending on Sunday, December 20.

In it's inaugural year the WBCA High School Player of the Week is presented to a deserving student-athlete who demonstrated outstanding play throughout the week. Head coaches submit nominations each week and the WBCA selects the individual based on stats that were submitted.

The winners are:

Region 1
Sami Ashton, a 5'6" senior from Morgan High School in Clinton, Conn. helped guide her team to a 2-1 record on the week. Ashton averaged 25.3 points, 5.7 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game. She posted a season best 34 points, seven assists and six rebounds against Hand High School on December 17.

Region 2
Kayley Kovac, from Jim Thorpe High School (Jim Thorpe, Pa.) led the Olympians to a 3-0 record. The 5'11" sophomore ended the week with 25.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.7 seals, 2.7 assists and 1.3 blocks. Kovac recorded a double-double in the 41-38 victory against Lehighton (24 points/19rebounds) on December 15 and the 65-16 win against MMI Preparatory School (25 points/10rebounds) on December 16.

Region 3
Rhianna Council, a 6'0" senior from Northern High School in Durham, N.C., tallied 29.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 1.0 assists as the Knights went 2-1 on the week. In the Knights two wins she shot 11-of-13 and 12-of-14 from the stripe.

Region 4
DeAnn Kauffman, from Union High School (Modoc, Ind.), propelled the Rockets to a 3-0 record for the week, while they improved to 6-1 on the year. The 5'10" senior averaged 31.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.7 steals and 2.3 blocks per game. On Dec. 19, Kauffman notched 43 points, while grabbing 15 boards, recording a season best in each category.

Region 5
Rylee Nudell, a 5'10" senior from Maple Valley High School in Tower City, N.D., averaged 40.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.7 steals and 1.3 blocks, as the Raiders ended the week 3-0. Nudell opened the week with a 45 point and 14 rebound performance against Enderlin High School, as Maple Valley won the game 77-49.

Region 6
Myah Taylor, from Olive Branch High School (Olive Branch, Miss.), helped the Conquistadors remain perfect on the season following three wins last week to improve to 14-0 overall. The 5'7" junior point guard averaged 29.0 points, 8.0 assists, 5.7 steals and 4.3 rebounds. Through 14 games Taylor is averaging 7.6 assists and nearly 6.0 steals.

Region 7
Taylor Chavez, a 5'9" sophomore from Valley Vista High School in Surprise, Ariz., capped the week averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 assists, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.3 blocks. Chavez connected on 88% of her free throw attempts during the week, making 29-of-33 from the charity stripe.

Region 8
Destiny Littleton, from Bishop's High School in La Jolla, Calif., navigated the Knights to a 6-0 record on the week, while Bishop's remains perfect at 11-0 on the season. On the week Littleton averaged 36.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.3 steals, 2.8 assists and 1.8 blocked shots. Littleton has tallied five double-doubles on the season and has 30-plus points in each of the Knights 11 games.

Region 9
Hannah Roney, a 5'7" junior from Middleburg High School (Middleburg, Fla.), completed the week averaging 30.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 3.7 steals. Roney posted a season best 43 points against Orange Park on December 18.
