MaxPreps/WBCA Players of the Week for Week 2: December 7 - December 13, 2015

ATLANTA (December 14, 2015) – The MaxPreps/Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) High School Players of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Dec, 13, have been named, the WBCA announced today.

In its inaugural year, the MaxPreps/WBCA High School Player of the Year is presented to a deserving student-athlete in each of nine geographic regions of the country who demonstrated outstanding play throughout the week. Head coaches submit nominations each week and the WBCA selects the individuals based on stats that were submitted.

The winners are:

Region 1
Lexi Kimball, a 5-foot-10 junior from Greens Farms Academy (Greens Farms, Connecticut) averaged 27.5 points, 6.0 steals, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in two games. Kimball posted a double-double in Greens Farms Academy 59-25 win against Chase Collegiate on December 9. The Dragons are 2-2 on the year.

Region 2
Holly Edwards, from Teays Valley Christian High School in Scott Depot, West Virginia propelled the Hawkeyes to a 3-0 record on the week, averaging 31.3 points per game. The 5-foot-7 sophomore posted a season best 45 points in the Lions 63-50 victory against Man High School on December 8. Teays Valley Christian High School is 3-1 overall.

Region 3
Sydney Austin, a 5-foot-11 junior from Ocracoke High School (Ocracoke, North Carolina), tallied 28.7 points, 14.0 rebounds, 4.3 steals, 3.8 blocks and 1.7 assists, as the Dolphins went 2-1 during the week. She recorded a double-double in each of the three games, while also collecting a season best seven steals in the 59-47 win against Perquimans on December 8.

Region 4
Jackie Young, from Princeton High School (Princeton, Indiana), has guided the Tigers to a 3-0 record on the week, while they are 10-0 on the year. The 6-foot-1 senior averaged 43.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 4.3 steals per game. She connected on 92% of her free throw attempts during the week.

Region 5
Rylee Nudell, a 5-foot-10 senior from Maple Valley High School in Tower City, North Dakota, has averaged 37.0 points, 12.7 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 2.3 assists on the way to leading the Raiders to a 2-1 record. In Maple Valley's 60-56 loss to Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page High School, Nudell registered a season best 17 rebounds, while tying her season best in points with 39.

Region 6
Jordyn Lewis, from Ramah High School (Ramah, New Mexico), has helped lead the Mustangs to a 7-2 overall record, while going 2-2 on the week. The 5-foot-7 senior guard averaged 33.0 points per game.

Region 7
Desirae Gonzalez, a 5-foot-10 senior from Kingman High School (Kingman, Arizona), earns her second straight MaxPreps/WBCA High School Player of the Week honor. The 5-foot-10 senior averaged 26.0 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.0 assists, as the Bulldogs went 4-3 on the week. Gonzalez posted a season best 43 points and tied her season high of 16 rebounds in Kingman's 81-47 victory against Mohave High School on December 8.

Region 8
Destiny Littleton, from Bishop's High School in La Jolla, California, has helped the Knights remain undefeated as they went 3-0 on the week to improve to 5-0 on the season. Littleton averaged 42.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.3 steals and 3.3 assists per game during the week. She finished with 45 points and a season best 10 steals in Bishop's 100-12 win over Santana High School.

Region 9
Whitney Creech, a 5-foot-9 senior from Jenkins High School (Jenkins, Kentucky), earns her second consecutive MaxPreps/WBCA High School Player of the Week award. The 5-foot-9 senior averaged 47.8 points, 19.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 3.0 blocks and 2.8 steals as the Cavaliers went 2-2 on the week. Creech ended the week by posting a season best 60 points and grabbing 26 rebounds in an 84-59 win against Lee.
