They were not close games the first two times the teams met. Nothing changed the third time.

Top-seed Tolleson jumped out to a 17-10 lead after the first period and methodically put away fifth-seeded Westview, 62-37, on Wednesday afternoon in a 5A-II girls basketball semifinal at Jobing.com Arena.

Tolleson (26-5) advances to Friday's championship game where it faces the Pinnacle-Horizon winner at 12:30 p.m. at Jobing. com Arena for a chance at threepeat. Westview, which competes with Tolleson in the Desert West Region and played four freshmen extensively, finished its season 24-6.

Tolleson senior Syerra Davis led all scorers with 14 points, 12 in the first half. Teammates Desiree Smith (12) and Laquese Garrett (10) also scored in double figures for the Wolverines. Tolleson outscored Westview in every quarter.

Westview was led by freshman guard Airianna Sesma with 12 points. Sesma was limited to two points in the second half as the Knights failed to score in double figures in either the third or fourth quarter.
