MaxPreps/USA Football Players of the Week for September 7-13, 2015

The USA Football/MaxPreps Regional High School Football Players of the Week honors eight top high school football performers each week throughout the United States.
Selected by USA Football, players are chosen based upon statistics that are submitted to MaxPreps. Each winner receives a certificate and a letterman patch to showcase the honor.
To nominate players, coaches or team administrators must enter the athlete's game stats by Monday evening of each week. High school coaches can obtain an access code for their teams by visiting: www.maxpreps.com/cl.
The eight weekly selections for Players of the Week for the week of September 7-13, 2015 are:
Northeast Region
Darren Smith of Sidney (Sidney, N.Y.)
Freshman (Class of '19); Quarterback
The freshman quarterback went 17-28 passing for 318 yards and 3 touchdowns, leading Sidney to a 48-28 victory over Unatego/Franklin.
Mid-Atlantic Region
Gavin Allan of Clarendon Hall (Summerton, S.C.)
Senior (Class of '16); Running back
Allan accounted for 60 of Clarendon Hall's 78 points in a shootout with Laurens Academy. The senior running back had 27 carries for 497 yards (18.4 YPC) and 10 rushing touchdowns.
Southeast Region
De'vonta Smith of Central (Brooksville, Fla.)
Junior (Class of '17); Running back
Smith led the Bears rushing attack with 15 carries for 346 yards (23.0 YPC) and 4 touchdowns, en route to a 48-10 victory over Fivay.
Midwest Region
Gabe Haney of Hyannis (Hyannis, Neb.)
Senior (Class of '16); Running back
Haney scored 7 touchdowns on 16 carries for 386 yards in Hyannis' 56-35 win over Spalding Academy.
Great Lakes Region
Jay Thomas of Lima Senior (Lima, Ohio)
Senior (Class of '16); Defensive back
Thomas amassed 24 tackles (15 solo, 9 asst.) and 2 sacks, helping to lead the Spartans to a 36-28 victory in a double-overtime thriller against Piqua.
Southwest Region
Gabe Loehr of Summit Christian Academy (Cedar Park, Texas)
Senior (Class of '16); Slotback
Loehr had a monster game for the Eagles both in the air (20-26, 380 yards and 5 touchdowns) and on the ground (21 carries, 215 yards, 2 touchdowns), leading Summit Christian to a 61-58 win over Hill Country Christian.
West Region
Zak Sandelin of Central Catholic (Modesto, Calif.)
Senior (Class of '16); Defensive line
Sandelin had a huge night for the Raiders defense, securing 38 tackles (34 solo, 4 asst.) and a sack, leading Central Catholic to a 36-22 win over St. Mary's.
Northwest Region
Zak Rose of Dubois (Dubois, Wyo.)
Senior (Class of '16); Fullback
The fullback rushed for 419 yards on 27 carries (15.5 YPC) and 9 total touchdowns, leading the Rams to an 87-32 win over St. Stephens. Rose also added 2 catches for 104 yards.
