MaxPreps/USA Baseball name High School Players of the Week for April 20, 2015

DURHAM, N.C. -- USA Baseball and MaxPreps announced on Friday, the MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week Award winners for the week of April 20, 2015, launching a partnership to bring national recognition to the top-performing high school athletes in the country.
Representing eight national regions, -- Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest and West -- players are selected based upon stats that are submitted to MaxPreps.com by coaches and team administrators. For players to be nominated each week, their coach must enter the athlete's game stats into MaxPreps by Sunday evening. High school coaches may obtain an access code to enter stats for their teams at maxpreps.com/cl.
The winners for MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week Award are as follows:
Great Lakes
Felix Ayala, a junior from South (Milwaukee, Wis.) High School, posted an .875 batting average (7-for-8) for the week to earn the Great Lakes MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week Award. Ayala notched 12 RBIs while scoring seven times and posting an on-base percentage of .889 and slugging 1.500.
Mid-Atlantic
Zarion Sharpe, a junior from Oakwood (Greenville, N.C.) High School, earned the Mid-Atlantic MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week Award after he tallied nine shutout innings this week, allowing just one hit and one walk, while striking out 21 hitters and earning a victory for his team.
Midwest
Donavan Mozee, a junior from Wright City (Wright City, Mo.) High School, went 10-for-12 last week to post a .833 batting average. Mozee ripped three home runs and drove in 10 runs while scoring three times to earn the Midwest MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week Award. He notched an impressive 1.666 slugging percentage for the week.
Northeast
Matt Greene, a senior from Danbury (Danbury, Conn.) High School, hit .833 for the week (5-for-6) while driving in four runs and scoring five times to earn Northeast MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week honors. Greene blasted a home run and walked three times for a 1.500 on-base percentage and an .889 on-base percentage.
Northwest
Jacob Hodge, a senior at Community Christian (Northglenn, Colo.) High School, earned two victories this week, allowing just two hits over 11 innings and no earned runs. For the week, Hodge struck out 24 batters while walking just six. The highlight of his Northwest MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week effort was a one-hit, complete game to defeat Gilpin High School, 5-1, tallying 15 strikeouts in the contest.
Southeast
Austin Laney, a junior at Tupelo Christian Prep (Belden, Miss.) School, fired 15 innings while not allowing an earned run to earn a pair of victories for his team and collect the Southeast MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week Award. Laney notched 33 strikeouts while issuing just two walks and allowing only seven hits for the week.
Southwest
Bryndon Buckley, a sophomore at Joseph City (Joseph City, Ariz.) High School, posted a perfect week at the plate, going 6-for-6, to earn Southwest MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week. Included in his offensive outbreak was a home run, seven RBIs and six runs scored. Buckley slugged 2.000 for the week.
West
Adrian Gonzalez, a junior at Heritage (Romoland, Calif.) High School, was unhittable over seven innings to earn West MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week honors. The right-hander struck out eight while issuing just one walk in the no-hitter.
