Boy's Golf: Chris Meyers leads a deep field of potential champions

Heading a list of All-Stars that could easily be doubled in size, Canyon del Oro senior Chris Meyers enters his final season as the one to beat. A top-three finisher at state, Meyers has had an important national presence this summer.
Meyers played in the US Junior Amateur, the Junior America’s Cup and was an Arizona Qualifier of Optimist International.
Verbally committed to Stanford, his parents are former University of Arizona All-American golfer and current PGA swing coach Susie Meyers and All-Pac10 Arizona golfer Dan Meyers.
Despite being in different divisions, Oro Valley rivals CDO and Ironwood Ridge will be battling again and will meet on September 25.
"CDO is very young with two seniors, four sophomores and two freshman in my top eight," said head coach John Farbarik. "We will have some rough patches early, but I like our chances by the end of the year."
"We return five seniors, four juniors and a sophomore," explained Ironwood Ridge head coach Ryan Bais. "We have an experienced group that is very talented. We have 4-5 guys with the potential to shoot under par each time out. We are looking to qualify for state for the 9th straight year. This is one of the deepest teams that we have had in a while. Top returners are Ruben Ruiz, Kenyon Kautz, Eric Barna, Andy Hunter and Nate Sverdrup."
