The swimming programs from Phoenix Brophy Prep and sister school Phoenix Xavier Prep already are making big splashes even before the debut of the new pool on the Brophy campus that is on track to open for the next school year.

The National High School Athletic Coaches Association recently announced that Brophy coach Pat O’Neill was named as the Swimming Coach of the Year for 2013-14. O’Neill has been the Broncos’ coach for eight years and has won a state championship in each of those seasons.

Also, Xavier announced the hire of Kelley Conrad as its new head coach, after the retirement of Brian Hoffer.

Conrad is a former star swimmer at New Mexico State and was a four-time All-Western Athletic Conference selection. She coached at New Mexico State for five seasons and more recently has been an assistant coach at the Scottsdale Athletic Club.
