Williams, Priskorn, Nalls, McDaniel & Otterson Named Max Preps/NFCA National H.S. Players of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore pitcher Nicole Williams (St. Joseph (Trumbull, Conn.) H.S.), senior center fielder Hannah Priskorn (Lakewood Park Christian (Auburn, Ind.) H.S.), freshman pitcher/first baseman Ashleigh Nalls (King George (King George, Va.) H.S.), freshman outfielder/infielder Lauren McDaniel (Wellsville (Wellsville, Kan.) H.S.) and senior shortstop Jessie Otterson (Maxwell (Maxwell, Calif.) H.S.) have been tabbed as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week for games played over May 12-18.

East Region

Williams guided the Cadets to an unbeaten week, going 3-0 from the circle with a 0.37 ERA and 34 strikeouts over 19 innings while also hitting .500 (4-for-8) with a pair of RBIs. She fired a no-hitter with 12 K's during a 13-0 rout of Bridgeport Central (Conn.) and punched out 15 in a 9-0 blanking of McMahon (Conn.). For the year Williams boasts an 18-1 record with a 0.71 ERA and 134 strikeouts over 98 frames while hitting .408 overall.

North Region

Priskorn powered the Panthers from the plate hitting a remarkable .833 (15-for-18) with a triple, two RBI and two steals while posting a quartet of three-or-more-hit contests. Her finest effort came during an 11-0 win over Fort Wayne Northrop (Ind.) as she went a perfect 5-for-5 at the dish with a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs. Overall, Priskorn is batting at a .543 clip with four extra-base hits, 37 tallies and 16 RBIs.

South Region

Nalls batted .555 (5-for-9) for the Foxes with a pair of doubles, a HR and four RBIs, while posting a 3-0 pitching record with 13 strikeouts over 17 innings of work. She was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles against Spotsylvania (Va.), earning the win with three frames of hitless effort from the circle. She's 13-2 overall for the season with a 1.24 ERA and 90 K's over 96.1 innings, while hitting .393 with 11 extra-base hits and 27 RBIs.

South Central Region

McDaniel hit at a .583 clip for the Eagles last week with four runs scored, a double, two thefts and six RBIs over three contests. Her finest effort came during an 18-2 rout of West Franklin (Kan.) as she went a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish with three tallies, a double and four RBIs. For the year she is hitting .403 with seven extra-base hits, 37 runs scored, 10 steals and 15 RBIs.

West Region

Otterson guided the Panthers to three victories last week, hitting .727 (8-for-11) with five runs scored, three doubles, a triple, five steals and 11 RBIs. During a 13-11 triumph over Westwood (Calif.), she went 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs, a double, four steals and five RBIs. Overall in 2014, Otterson is batting .590 with 14 extra-base hits, 30 tallies, 39 thefts and 31 RBIs.

The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions (if there are enough nominations to consider). During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
