Skyline High has filled a couple more varsity coaching slots in the past week with the hiring of Ryan Myers for girls basketball and former Paradise Valley and ASU standout Annie Lockwood to guide its softball program.

Myers has 10 years of coaching experience with the last two years as an assistant to veteran coach Pat Dunn, who stepped down after last season to concentrate an advanced degree. Skyline athletic director Greg Schulz says Myers has an extensive knowledge of the game and a positive rapport with our players, two key reasons for his hire.

Fresh off an outstanding prep career and college stint for ASU's national-ranked softball program, the Coyotes tabbed Lockwood. Lockwood starred at Paradise Valley High School from 2005 through 2008 as power-hitting shortstop and pitcher. She completed a four-year run at ASU in 2012 and was a member of ASU's 2011 national championship team. Lockwood earned first-team- and second-team Pac-12 honors in her career. She served as an undergraduate assistant at ASU in 2013. Lockwood will teach special education at Skyline. Lockwood wil be the school's third coach in the past three years. Lockwood  takes over for Larry Farina. Skyline was 5-26 last season.

Skyline will have nine new varsity head coaches among 21 for its 2013-2014 school year -- boys and girls cross country, boys swimming, boys basketball, girls basketball, boys and girls track, baseball and softball.
