Flint, Rayburn, Small, Worrell and Givens Selected as Max Preps/NFCA National H.S. Players of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For their outstanding efforts during games occurring over April 29-May 5, Alexandrea Flint of Keshequa (Nunda, N.Y.) High School, Jessica Rayburn of Donovan (Donovan, Ill.) High School, Kimberly Small of Daphne (Daphne, Ala.) High School, Jaycee Worrell of Royal Valley (Hoyt, Kan.) High School and Victoria Givens of Pomona Catholic (Pomona, Calif.) High School have been selected as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week.

EAST REGION: A senior pitcher/shortstop for Keshequa H.S., Flint batted .615 (8-for-13) with nine runs scored, six stolen bases, a pair of HR's and nine RBIs, while also going 4-0 from the circle with three shutouts, a 0.28 ERA and 56 strikeouts over just 25 innings of work. She struck out at least 12 batters in each of her four starts on the week with highs of 15 K's in both 19-1 and 7-0 victories over York (N.Y.) and Oakfield-Alabama (N.Y.), respectively. For the year she's currently 11-0 with a 0.21 ERA and 141 K's over 67 frames of work while hitting .595 with seven HR's and 29 RBIs.

NORTH REGION: A senior pitcher/third baseman for the Wildcats, Rayburn hit an impressive .684 (13-for-19) with four doubles, two triples, a HR and 11 RBIs, while also posting a 4-0 pitching mark with 20 strikeouts in 25 innings. She posted at least three hits in each of Donovan's four match-ups last week with her finest effort, a 4-for-4 performance with two doubles, a HR and four RBIs, coming during an 11-1 win over Illinois Lutheran (Ill.). On the year she's hitting .537 with 17 RBIs and is 8-3 in the circle with a 2.58 ERA and 67 K's over 65 frames of effort.

SOUTH REGION: A junior pitcher for the Trojans, Small batted .474 (9-for-19) with three runs scored, a pair of doubles and seven RBIs, while being credited with a 3-0 pitching record, a 0.50 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 28 innings. Her finest performance of the week came in a 15-0 rout of Spanish Fort (Ala.) as she went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs while also tossing a one-hit shutout. For the season she's hitting .369 overall with five two-baggers and 20 RBIs to go along with an 18-5 pitching mark and 129 K's in 121 innings.

SOUTH CENTRAL REGION: A sophomore second baseman/outfielder for the Panthers, Worrell hit .688 (11-for-16) with seven runs scored, two doubles, a triple, two stolen bases and nine RBIs during a perfect 4-0 week. She posted at least two hits in each contest with her best effort coming during a 13-0 hammering of Nemaha Valley (Kan.) as Worrell went 4-for-4 at the dish with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. On the year she is batting .531 with four doubles, a pair of triples and 16 RBIs.

WEST REGION: A senior pitcher/shortstop for the Pacers, Givens was 2-0 from the circle with a 0.00 ERA, a pair of one-hit shutouts and 16 strikeouts over just 10 innings, while hitting .750 (9-for-12) with eight runs scored, two doubles, two HR's and 16 RBIs. Her most impressive performance came during a 28-0 rout of Hamilton (Calif.) as she went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with a two-bagger, two HR's, three runs tallied and eight RBIs while also tossing a one-hit shutout. For the year Givens is 13-8 overall with 97 K's in 112.2 frames to go along with a .537 batting average, eight doubles, six HR's and 42 RBIs.

The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
