Brianna Johnson, Skylar Cagle and Halle Hayes Selected as Max Preps/NFCA Nat'l H.S. Players of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For their impressive efforts during games occurring over March 11-17, Brianna Johnson of Marion County (Guin, Ala.) High School, Skylar Cagle of Pilot Point (Pilot Point, Texas) High School and Halle Hayes of Winslow (Winslow, Ariz.) High School have been selected as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week.
SOUTH REGION: A junior catcher for the Red Raiders, Johnson batted .526 (10-for-19) with two doubles, a HR, three stolen bases, a trio of walks and 13 RBIs during the past week. Among her outstanding efforts were a 2-for-3 performance with a double and six RBIs and a perfect 3-for-3 day with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs in 17-7 and 17-2 victories over Phillips (Ala.), respectively. For the season Johnson maintains a .393 overall batting mark.
SOUTH CENTRAL REGION: A senior pitcher/shortstop, Cagle helped Pilot Point H.S. to a 7-1 week, going 5-0 in the circle with a 1.35 ERA, two complete-game shutouts and 37 strikeouts over 26 innings of work. At the plate, she hit .615 (16-for-26) with six runs scored, four doubles, two triples, a HR and 10 RBIs. Cagle struck out 10 batters during a 5-2 victory over Caddo Mills (Texas) and was 2-for-3 with a HR and five RBIs in a 17-0 rout of Leonard (Texas). For the year she's batting .708 overall with 15 doubles, four triples, three HR's and 25 RBIs and is also 14-0 from the circle with a 1.08 ERA and 126 K's over 84 frames.
WEST REGION: A junior pitcher/infielder, Hayes was nearly perfect at the plate during the past week for the Bulldogs, going 15-for-16 for a remarkable .938 batting average with a triple, a HR and six RBIs. She even contributed a 3-0 record from the circle (her first three decisions of the season) with three complete games and 24 strikeouts over 18 innings. Included in her impressive efforts were a pair of perfect 5-for-5 performances, during a 19-0 win over Holbrook (Ariz.) and an 8-4 triumph over San Juan (Utah), and a 3-for-3 day with two runs scored, a HR and four RBIs in a 14-1 victory over Raton (N.M.). For the season, Hayes is batting a remarkable .826 with 16 tallies and nine RBIs.
