Amost as quickly as boys basketball openings came about, they are being filled.
The next hire to come likely will be at Campo Verde, where sources have confirmed former Skyline coach Miichael Wirth is expected to be named the Coyotes new mentor. Wirth would replace Neil MacDonadl, who resigned last month following three seasons at the helm. Wirth coached at Skyline the last seven seasons before resigning last month.
Late Tuesday Chandler district athletic director Marcus Williams announced the hiring of Mark Nold at Chandler High to replace Mike Ellsworth. Nold coached four seasons at Perry and resigned in the spring of 2012 to become athletic director and boys basketball coach at another Chandler school, Arizona College Preparatory. Late last week Tempe High hired former Mesquite head coach Tom Saltzstein, an assistant at Mountain Pointe this past season, to take over for Paul Long. Long resigned after one season at Tempe.
Red Mountain is set to interview 10 coaches for its boys basketball opening. Those interviews will take place Friday (March 8) and Monday (March 11), according to Red Mountain athletic director Jim Gowdy.
