Desert Vista interim coach Jontar Coleman has his hands full coaching two teams and helping out with seven-month-old quadrulpets at home.

Sleep -- when it comes -- arrives easier when the Lady Thunder play like they did Monday afternoon.

Sophomore post Kristine Anigwe scored 17 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to highlight an impressive 67-51 victory over Mesa Mountain View at the 10th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Classic at Wells Fargo Arena.

Desert Vista shot 53 percent from the field in the first half and took a 10-0 lead as the first five shots fell. Anigwe went to work with five points and sohomore guard Emily Wolph, the team's leading scorer and serving as its sixth-man, poured in eight points once she arrived a couple minutes in. The Lady Thunder improved to 14-8 overall and 8-6 in power-ranking games as they look to rise out of the low-20s in the power-rankiings.

Monday's game was the third for Coleman since he took over last Tuesday for first-year coach Jaysie Sheppard-Chambers, who was removed as coach last week and expected to be officially terminated later this week. Coleman has continued his role as junior varsity head coach as well as varsity mentor since that time.

"Never," Coleman said about his sleep-ability lately. "If we keep playing like this it will all be worth it."

Mountain View coach Henry Bribiescas tipped his hat to Desert Vista for its fast start and play in a large environment.

"They shot the ball so well," Bribescas said. "It's tough to come to an arena like this and shoot well. I was looking at our game here with Red Mountain in 2007 and we shot about 80 percent. We had that kind of night then. They are tough with (Anigwe) in the middle and Wolph. Wolph is a leader and makes them better when she's on the floor."

Mountain View sliced a 24-9 lead in the early stages of the second period to 25-21  with about four minutes left in the quarter. Desert Vista got eight more points from Wolph --including two more threes -- and took a 41-27 lead to halftime. The lead grew to 57-39 after three and the Lady Toros couldn't forge another run the rest of the way.

Armani Hawkins and Sabrina Haines led Mountain View with 12 points each. Mountain View is  now 13-7 overall and 10-3 in power-ranking games with five left to play.
