Video: MaxPreps Top 15 football plays of the year, 2012
December 31, 2012 by MaxPreps, AZPreps365
We've seen everything from a 67-yard field goal that sent a game to overtime, to a game winning Hail Mary, to a flip into the end zone. With so many great plays it's hard to narrow it down to just 15.
We are listing our Top 15 (in no particular order), and we want you to send in ones we may have missed. Leave us a comment and link below if we missed out on a top play or plays you may have witnessed this season!
Bergen Catholic's wild handoff
Jonathan Germano threw to J.J. Kulcsar, and then James Dawson finished off one of the wackiest plays of the year, helping Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.) beat Friendship Collegiate Academy.
Peter Cimino to the rescue
Boylan (Rockford, Ill.) was down by seven points with no time left on the clock and about to receive a punt. The rest was up to Peter Cimino and his Boylan teammates - and they delivered a most improbable victory.
On a High note
Christopher High from Douglass (Oklahoma City) used every part of the field before finding the end zone.
Helmet assist
Zach Elkinson used one hand and his helmet for this touchdown grab for Holliston (Mass.).
Big man gets 6
Katy (Texas) gets a touchdown from an unlikely source: defensive lineman Matt Dimon.
Mann down? Nope
Jake Mann of La Costa Canyon (Carlsbad, Calif.) doesn't stop after he appears to be down.
13-second scramble
Michael Carter scrambled around for 13 seconds before finally hooking up with his receiver for a Bloomfield (N.J.) touchdown.
They did what?
It's hard to describe this one, but we'll try. Connor Haney laterals back to Dan Verzuh for the Lakeside (Seattle) score.
Hail Mary miracle
Pompton Lakes (N.J.) was down to its last play when Robbie Meyers went deep to Daniel Foote.
The catch, New York style
Quarterback Danny Wolff hit Ryan Dippel for the game-winning touchdown for Sachem East (Farmingville, N.Y.).
You can't stop Q
There's no stopping Quentin Adams from Southern Choctaw (Gilbertown, Ala.) as he runs over and through defenders.
A bouquet of points
Jayden Croft passed to Jaime Bryant for the Tumwater (Wash.) score. But it was done in an unconventional way: The bouquet pass. It was a popular choice this season, though.
The big boot
Austin Rehkow of Central Valley (Veradale, Wash.) nailed a 67-yard field goal to send the game into overtime.
Pick (and lateral) 6
Nehemiah Brown of Valhalla (El Cajon, Calif.) hauls in an interception and laterals to a teamate for the score.
A flip for six
Adoree' Jackson scores in style for Serra (Gardena, Calif.) in a California State Championship Bowl Game.
