With the 2A Volleyball State Championships getting underway Nov. 7, there are a handful of teams ready to take the next step and win a title as the fall season concludes.
The first two rounds of 2A state bracket matches are scheduled to take place at Millennium High School, with the state semifinals held at Mountain Pointe High School and the finale at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
PHOENIX COUNTRY DAY
Finishing 20-2 overall this fall, No. 1-seeded Phoenix Country Day has won 10 straight and are primed for a state championship run.
The Eagles have three state titles in program history, with their last coming in 2024.
Coach Kat Glaeseman said her club serves and passes well, and their well-balanced offense will help in the playoffs.
“We need to be calm under pressure,” Glaeseman said.
Players to watch include senior middle hitter Jodie Jones, outside hitter Emery Ossenfort, and outside hitter Layla Jarvis.
“Jodie is a very powerful hitter and our leading blocker and senior leader. Emery is our most consistent outside hitter and smart. And Layla is a great passer,” Glaeseman said.
Jarvis leads the team in kills with 164.
The Eagles were a 2A state semifinalist a season ago before losing to North Valley Christian Academy 3-0.
SCOTTSDALE CHRISTIAN
Don’t let the 27-11-1 overall record fool you. The defending 2A state champs played one of the tougher schedules in the conference this season, regularly playing above their fighting weight in tournament play.
They beat Show Low (3A), Mingus (4A), lost to Payson (3A), and lost to Northwest Christian (3A) 2-1 in a close one. They also saw ALA-Gilbert North, Chaparral, Arcadia, Basha and Saguaro this season, all of which are 4A-6A schools.
The Eagles are currently on a six-match winning streak and as the No. 2 seed in this playoff bracket, they’ll be looking to do some damage and potentially repeat as champs after beating North Valley Christian a season ago in the title match, 3-2.
Scottsdale Christian has six titles in program history, five of which have come since the 2017 season.
Players to watch include Kaya Olafson, a senior who has 415 kills this season, nearly double of anyone else on the roster and was nearly 100 more than any 2A player. Only Grace Hamann of Veritas Prep was close at 317.
GLENDALE PREP
Sporting the best power-point record in the 2A conference at 17-1 this season, No. 3-seeded Glendale Prep (20-2, 12-0 2A West) has won 12 straight entering the playoffs this week.
Their only two losses this season came against Scottsdale Prep Academy (2-1) in a tournament back in mid-September, and a 3-0 loss to Phoenix Country Day around the same time. Both Scottsdale Prep (No. 8) and Phoenix Country Day (No. 1) are top eight seeds this playoff season.
Players to watch include Delaney Dillon who leads the team with 228 kills as a freshman, and Lainey Hunter, a sophomore with 205 kills. Senior Brooklyn Coulter leads the team in assists with 388.

CHANDLER PREP
The Titans (28-7, 4-2 2A Central) were one of the best teams in volleyball this season and their No. 4 seeding shows it, despite heading into the 2A state playoffs with a two-match losing streak.
Those losses came against No. 3-seeded Glendale Prep (3-2 on Oct. 29) and No. 2-seeded Scottsdale Christian (3-0 on Oct. 27) at the end of the regular season.
Coach Courtnee Oglesby said the success her team has experienced this year is a “direct result” of the strong connection the team has built, including their “shared determination.”
“Every player understands our goals and is committed to doing whatever it takes to achieve them,” Oglesby said.
Players to watch include standout sophomore Madeline Yates, who led the team in kills with 234 this season and continues to show she could be one of the top middle hitters in Arizona over the next two years as she develops.
“As a sophomore, Madeline has established herself as one of our most dominant players at the net and behind the service line,” Oglesby said. Her development this season has been tremendous.”
Others include setter Hannah Fox, who has 209 assists this season, and libero Micaela Dickens, who finished the 2026 regular season with 396 digs.
NORTH VALLEY CHRISTIAN
The Lions (28-9-1, 12-0 2A Black Canyon) are on a mission after making the program’s first state championship match only to fall short in a 3-2 loss to Scottsdale Christian a season ago.
North Valley Christian suffered a 3-0 loss to those Eagles on Oct. 24 but have since won three straight heading into the 2A playoffs.
Senior Charis Robinson leads the way with 227 kills this season, while junior Braelynn Johnson had 206 to give the Lions a dynamic duo up front.
OTHER NOTES
San Tan Charter as the No. 6 seed won 15 matches this season and have senior Kendall Antell on the roster, who had 322 digs (7th overall in 2A) this season as one of the top defenders in Arizona. … Horizon Honors comes in as the No. 7 seed and feature one of the top outside hitters in 2A this season as Jalla Housh recorded 290 kills, good enough for third overall amongst all hitters. … Scottsdale Prep rounds out the Top 8 seeds in this playoff bracket as the Spartans won 24 matches this season.
