Desert Mountain outlasted Horizon 552 to 569 this past week at the Division II state playoffs to win the third team championship in program history with the previous two coming in 2005 and 2015. The Wolves made a move on Thursday (-17) at the Aguila Golf Course to finish with the 24-under mark.

The Wolves took second place last year to Notre Dame Prep but the Saints lost their top four golfers to graduation including Landon Ashcraft who won three individual championships in a row before moving over to play for Texas A&M. Even with the turnover, the Saints took fourth place last year right behind Arcadia. Salpointe took fifth place.

With Ashcraft at Texas A&M, the field was open and Horizon junior Easton Reischl took full advantage with a 14-under 130 to beat the next three golfers by four strokes. Arcadia junior Hudson Cook, Canyon del Oro junior Jordan Tees and Seton Catholic Prep senior Nathan Ash all finished with a 10-under 134.

Reischl finished in third place last year and he enters his senior year already committed to play for TCU.
