Rincon/University junior Ariela Renee Trejo shot a 4-under-par 31 to beat the field by six strokes in a match played at Dell Urich on Monday. Salpointe Catholic beat the Rangers by ten strokes to bring home the win on Senior Day. Trejo shot a birdie on her first hole and never looked back.

Sunnyside sophomore Lanica Rodriquez is currently above the cut as an individual golfer for Division I while Trejo is the leading Division II for golfers not attached to a playoff team and her sophomore teammate Ellen Kwon also appears to be safe for an at-large spot.

Other golfers from Southern Arizona who are above the cut to earn an at-large berth for D-II includes Sahuarita So. Alexandra Guerrero, Cienega Sr. Abby Chandler and Mica Mountain sophomore Liv Greenwood.

Salpointe, Ironwood Ridge, Canyon del Oro and Catalina Foothills are above the cut as a team for D-II. No teams in the D-I ranks will qualify for the state playoffs from Southern Arizona. At the moment, 26 golfers from Southern Arizona are headed to the state playoffs, slated to start on Oct. 26.

The Rangers competed in D-I last year and Trejo took 17th. Greenwood's older sister Tyla won the D-II championship last year and Canyon del Oro took second place as a team.
