SHOW LOW — Titan Myers ran 15 times for 155 yards and two touchdowns, Jaxon Crick added three scores and No. 2 Round Valley continued to show why they are the team to beat in 3A football with a 48-21 win over No. 3 Show Low on Friday night.

It is the 16th straight win dating back to last season for the Elks (7-0, 3-0 3A Mountain), which were only challenged by Benjamin Franklin in the title game and scored 40-plus points on everyone else during the epic playoff run.

This season has been much of the same for Brad Baca’s club, which allowed 21 points to Show Low but came into the Week 7 matchup having allowed 26 total points all season.

The Elks host Heritage Academy Gateway (Oct. 16) and Apache Junction (Oct. 23) at the Round Valley Dome over the next two weeks, then wrap up the regular season at ALA-Mesa North on Oct. 30 before the playoffs.

#12 CAMP VERDE 71, CHINO VALLEY 20

CAMP VERDE — Zayden Turnbell completed 11 of 16 passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns, Justin Smith ran for four scores and No. 12-ranked Camp Verde wore out Chino Valley in a 71-20 win on Friday night.

It is the second straight win for the Cowboys (6-1, 3-1 2A Metro 3), which have scored 70-plus points in back-to-back weeks but face their stiffest test of the season this week as they host an undefeated and defending 2A state champ Scottsdale Christian.

The Eagles (7-0, 4-0 2A Metro 3) have surrendered only 19 points all season.

Wyatt Loveall caught three balls for 49 yards and a score, while Smith had 12 carries for 104 yards and his four touchdowns.

Kickoff in Camp Verde against Scottsdale Christian on Oct. 16 is set for 7 p.m.

#1 SNOWFLAKE 62, COMBS 7

SAN TAN VALLEY — Brenner Green had three touchdowns, Jacob LaDuke tossed two scores and Snowflake won their seventh straight with a 62-7 win over Combs on Friday night.

Trevor Reddick’s group seems determined to finish atop the 4A conference this season after losing to Mica Mountain in the state quarterfinals (21-14) a season ago.

Green had five carries for 136 yards and three touchdowns, while Otto Mills had 134 yards and six carries and one score. LaDuke was 5 for 6 with 90 yards.

The Lobos host Eastmark this week. Kickoff on Friday is set for 7 p.m.

#5 PRESCOTT 21, #13 COCONINO 14

PRESCOTT — After earning a win the easy way due to a forfeit by Mohave the week prior, there was nothing easy about No. 5-ranked Prescott’s 21-14 win over rival Coconino in a potential 4A state playoff preview Friday night.

Junior quarterback James Hefferin connected with senior wideout Nicholas Phillips twice for two touchdowns, while Braylon Johnson had a 9-yard score in the win for the Badgers (7-0, 4-0 4A Grand Canyon), which are off to their best start ever under coach Cody Collett.

Phillips reeled in four catches for 87 yards and the two scores to lead Prescott.

Prescott heads to Flagstaff this week to take on the rival Eagles on Oct. 15, then come home to host Youngker on Oct. 23.

And, in the matchup everyone is waiting for in 4A football, Prescott will host Bradshaw Mountain in Week 10 on Oct. 29.

The No. 3-ranked Bears beat Lee Williams 30-27 on Thursday night to improve to 6-1, with their only loss coming to Snowflake in Week 3, 17-10.

Under coach Bob Young, Bradshaw Mountain should beat Buckeye Union this week and Coconino on Oct. 23, meaning the cross-town rival Badgers and Bears could meet at the end of the season with 9-0 and 8-1 records, respectively.

The two clubs would also be Top 5 teams in 4A at the time, meaning this matchup between the rivals could be the biggest game in years against these two clubs with significant playoff implications on the line.

#11 PAGE 47, MONUMENT VALLEY 0

PAGE — Kellen Cummings completed 14 of 25 for 281 yards and four touchdowns as No. 11-ranked Page made things look easy against Monument Valley in a 47-0 win Friday night.

Lorin John caught nine passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns as Ty Bennett’s Sand Devils have won four straight.

Page is scheduled to travel to Winslow on Oct. 16, kickoff at 7 p.m.
