FLAGSTAFF — Punts and turnovers hurt Flagstaff as the Eagles were shut out for the second consecutive game against Bradshaw Mountain, 51-0, on Oct. 2 at the Walkup Skydome.
Injuries didn’t help Flagstaff, as junior quarterback Broden Custer exited the game early, furthering their offensive struggles.
“Whenever your general goes down it’s always the next guy up,” Flagstaff coach Andres Delgadillo said. “But he’s the general for a reason.”
Bradshaw Mountain scored 31 points in the second quarter.
The Bears' strong offensive performance came in part from their running game as they finished with 149 total rushing yards as senior running back Jon'te Jones led the way with nine carries for 91 yards and three touchdowns.
“They’ve got a lot of talent in the backfield and it shows,” Delgadillo said.
Flagstaff will look to rebound against Mohave on Oct. 9 in search of their first win of the season.
“You gotta reach inside. You gotta find that dog, they gotta fight back, and they can’t just roll over. We had that dog at the beginning of the season and just gotta find it again,” Delgadillo said.
