It was another big outing for Marana quarterback Izzy Garcia with the Tigers beating district rival Mountain View 42-0 Thursday night in a game billed, “Battle of the Saddle.” The sophomore ended with 278 yards passing with three touchdowns to go along with three touchdowns on the ground off a total of 98 yards rushing.

Marana (3-1) had a 14-7 setback to Sandra Day O'Connor (3-1) at home last Thursday but the team looks to have it’s offense in order with region play starting next Tuesday at Sunnyslope (0-4). The initial set of rankings will be released on Oct. 8 and the Tigers should be in line for a favorable playoff seed in the 6A Conference.

Mountain View (1-2) competes in the 5A Conference where the program is 1-0 with Cienega (1-3) coming in next Tuesday. Junior QB Emma Gibbons threw for 63 yards against a very difficult defense and Danika Stoddard had 46 yards receiving on seven catches.

The Tigers broke through with a three-yard touchdown pass from Garcia to Brooklyn Griffin with 10:36 left in the first half and Garcia ran the ball in from up close to put the Tigers up 14-0 with 6:38 left. A short throw to Kaylynn Cox made it 21-0 with 1:43 left and a strike to Sophia Silversten made it 28-0 at the half.

Garcia made it 35-0 on another run with 5:08 left in the third and then an interception from Griffin led to another run from Garcia for the 42-0 final.

Griffin ended the night with 48 yards receiving, Cox had 72 yards, Silverstein had 60 and Abygail Brown finished with 41.
