The Chaparral girls missed the cut at the High School Golf National Invitational held July 11-13 at the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina but the Firebirds bounced back to win the National Sandhills Shootout, the newly formed mini-tournament featuring the remaining 12 teams in the field.

Chaparral beat Ohio by four strokes to win the tournament. Yuer Li shot a 3-over-par 73, Mila Hu shot 78, as did Phoebe Brethower. Sonia Hu shot 85 and Lillian Broderick shot 91. Li tied for fourth place, four shots off the pace.

Chaparral won the 2025 Division II state championship over Canyon del Oro to qualify for the national tournament. Mila Hu took 12th place at state and Li took 15th.

The Notre Dame Prep boys took sixth place at the National Tournament held July 18-19. Bad weather ended the tournament after two rounds of play.

Xander Mulder and Frederick Egnatios both shot a 4-under 140 (70-70) to tie for 13th place, Cruz Carter shot 145 (71-74). Miles Bauer shot 150 (72-78) and Catcher Dahm shot 157 (78-79).

The Saints won back-to-back D-II state championships in 2024 and 2025. Egnatios took second place last year, Mulder took fourth, Carter took 10th and Bauer finished in 20th place.

OF NOTE: Egnatios (Cal Poly commit) won the Boys 15-18 Division at the Uswing Mojing Junior World Championship with a 6-under par (68-69-73) at the Torrey Pines South Course (July 7-9).
