Hall of Fame volleyball coach Heather Moore-Martin was announced as the new head girls volleyball coach at Sabino. Pending governing board approval, Sabino will be the fourth high school led by the championship coach, starting with Green Fields, Catalina and Salpointe. Moore-Martin was also an assistant with Pima Community College before moving over to Catalina.

In all, Moore-Martin has coached in 907 indoor matches with 715 combined indoor victories and she leads all from Southern Arizona with nine team championships between indoor and beach volleyball and she coached future University of Arizona standouts Alex Parkhurst and Abby Russell to a beach pairs championship in 2019.

Sabino won a state championship in 1989 and took runner-up in 1997. The Sabercats compete in the 3A Conference and the program finished 4-13 last fall. The 2026 season starts August 28 at the TUSD Invitational hosted by Pueblo.
