Canyon View High School's Muhammed "Mo" Oliver has been named the Arizona Girls Track & Field Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Oliver was recognized after leading the Jaguars to a historic string of performances during the 2026 season. Under his leadership, the girls squad captured its third consecutive Division II state title and went on to claim a second-place finish at the Arizona State Championship Meet this past spring. The runner-up finish marks a steady climb for the program, which placed third at the state meet in each of the previous two seasons.

Before becoming a coach, Oliver had a standout athletic career at the University of Oregon, where he competed in both track and field and football. As a decathlete for the Ducks, he ranked No. 6 in the United States while simultaneously playing defensive back for the football team.

Oliver went on to play professionally in the NFL from 1992 to 1996, later concluding his football career with the Arizona Rattlers.

Oliver, along with the other state honorees, will receive a trophy from the USTFCCCA to recognize the achievement.
