CAMP VERDE — Aislynn Mulcaire allowed only two hits and struck out six in an 18-1 victory for No. 8-ranked Camp Verde over rival Sedona on a rainy Tuesday afternoon.

It is the sixth straight win for the Cowboys (12-5, 3-0 2A Central), which found themselves in the Top 10 when the AIA officially released the first look at the power point rankings for 2026 earlier in the day.

Offensively, Camp Verde needed only four hits as the Scorpions (0-6, 0-3 2A Central) committed 13 errors defensively. At the end of the first inning having already taken a 10-0 lead, Cowboys coach Danya Weir intentionally had two separate baserunners illegally start before the pitch took place, forcing the umpire to call them out.

Mulcaire pitched a complete game, going four innings and allowing only two hits and an unearned run. She was 1 for 3 with an RBI double at the plate.

The senior was asked what she thought of Camp Verde being a Top 10 team in the power point rankings with about four weeks to go before state.

“I feel like we’re doing great. Today wasn’t the greatest game [to show that] … but I think everyone is working together,” Mulcaire said. “We have some big games next week and I think we’re going to come out strong.”

Scottsdale Christian is No. 13 and the Cowboys host them April 2, while No. 22-ranked Fountain Hills visits April 7. Camp Verde then travels to Arizona Lutheran (No. 18) on April 9, Horizon Honors (No. 7) on April 10, then hosts No. 4-ranked Phoenix Christian on April 13.

“We’re trying to stay disciplined and work on different situational things. We are always trying to prepare for the state playoffs,” Weir said. “We have a couple really good games coming up so we are preparing and utilizing what we need right now to win those.”

Jeslynn Sharp was 1 for 1 with an RBI, two runs scored, and one walk for Camp Verde, while Tilee Cupp and Haygen Armstrong each collected a hit in the win.
