CDO over Salpointe, 11-0

Canyon del Oro improved to 7-2 after an 11-0 victory at home over Salpointe on Friday. Starting pitcher Regen Mazura (2-0) threw five innings, giving up one hit while striking out 10 batters. Mazura has 24 strikeouts in 16 innings of work with a 1.29 ERA.
Salpointe (2-3) junior Adrian Villela picked up a double in the top of the fifth to break up the no hitter. Dorado junior Gatlin Geile went 2-2 with three RBI to lead Canyon del Oro, Brayden Hoyler went 2-3 with an RBI and junior Alex Martinez went 2-3 with an RBI. Senior Christopher Gutierrez (1-1) got the start for the Lancers and junior Troy Kuhlman also saw some action.
Salpointe will be hosting the Lancer Baseball Classic starting on Monday at the Reid Park Annex Complex and the Lancers will open up against Enid, Oklahoma (3-2) Monday night at 6 p.m. and the Dorados will play Douglas (6-3) at 3:30 p.m.
The Lancers beat Canyon del Oro 10-0 last year and the two programs split the year before. The Dorados moved the 5A Conference last year and the Lancers will join them next year.
