Hamilton came up short once again, losing 4-3 to Saguaro in Friday's ballgame.
Saguaro opened the scoring in the first inning on a Zander Bratspis single which plated one.
Parker Rahn from the Huskies quickly answered back as he doubled to left field which tied the game at one through one inning of play.
Bratspis was later forced to leave the game in the top of the third due to injury after being hit by a pitch in the head area.
In the bottom of the third, the Huskies took the lead on some aggressive baserunning by center fielder Cory Wuttke stealing second. While he stole third there was a throwing error, which allowed Wuttke to come in and score.
Ricky Faulkner singled down the right field line, which helped Saguaro knot the game up at two in the top of the fourth inning.
Saguaro second baseman Max Pena came out swinging, collecting three hits in four at-bats along with two runs scored.
Alain Gomez of the Sabercats broke the tie with a sacrifice fly, followed by an RBI single by Jude Dravecky to extend the lead to 4-2 in the top of the fifth inning.
Along with that Saguaro received two great pitching performances by starter Kyle Miller allowing four hits and two earned runs in 4.2 innings of work. Earning himself a victory in today’s ballgame.
Taichi Ebino came in to relieve Miller and was brilliant only allowing one hit in 2.1 innings of work earning himself the save.
The Huskies’ bats were silent as they collected only five hits from five different players.
A lot of bad things are gonna happen, it’s better to happen early right now,” head coach Mike Woods said.
Although these first three games will reflect on the record, they do not count towards playoff seeding, Woods said.
Even with a loss today, the Huskies took positive steps in this game.
Tyler Nelson made his season debut on the mound and turned in a solid start despite some bad luck as Saguaro kept finding holes.
“We’re having a hard time finding a hole and our opponents are finding the holes,” he said.
The Huskies are putting together some great at-bats but seem to not find any luck to string together some hits to help plate some runs.
“The game is working against us right now,” Woods said.
The Huskies bounced back to earn their first win of the season, beating Mountain View 5-1 on Saturday.
