Arcadia Picks up its First Win of 2026

After dropping its preseason opener in the prestigious 34th annual Adam Donnenfield Invite-only Preseason Tournament on Wednesday, Arcadia's baseball team bounced back on Thursday with a 5-1 win at home against Gilbert Christian.
Hank Jensen took the mound for Arcadia and started the game with a strong no-hit 1st inning. In the second inning, the first batter Jensen faced had a long at-bat in which Jensen was able to finish him off with a strikeout eventually. The next batter got a base hit, and this is part of the game where we saw Jensen slightly struggle. He threw a wild pitch on the next at-bat, and the runner on base advanced to second. That same runner would go on to steal third, and a sacrifice fly would bring him home to give Gilbert Christian an early 1-0 lead.
Arcadia shifted the momentum in the bottom of the second.
Satchel Lipton then came up to the plate and knocked a base hit to tie the game up at 1. Ladner said his double sparked the momentum the team needed.
“We were kind of struggling a little bit that first inning, and then I had a nice little double down the line," he said. “I was on second base, saw the ball on the dirt, and got to third. Scored on a nice base hit from my friend Satchel here, then we kind of had a great game from there, and the team was hyped after that.”
That momentum definitely carried over the rest of the game for the Titans as the ace Hank Jensen dominated the next three innings with five strikeouts and only allowing one hit.
“My catcher and I planned before the game, preparing for everything, so we didn’t go off track or anything," Jensen said. "We just stuck to it and paid off really well. So give all the credit to my catcher.”
Catcher Satchel Lipton said he and Jensen communicated well.
“We talk before the game, even talking on the bus ride home after the last game," Lipton said. "He drew out where he wanted all his pitches to be. So we were kind of working off that, which was feeling good.
"In the second inning, they were hitting the slider a little well, and we were hanging a little bit. So then we adjusted to that, but yeah, it was just all in the preparation, and I feel like we were really good about that, and we executed.”
Andrew Karsnitz's RBI single to bring Jensen home would serve as the game-winning run in the bottom of the third. Then, the Titan scored s a few insurance runs in the fourth and fifth that would give them a comfortable lead throughout the rest of the game.
Arcadia would go on to win 5-1, and they finished this year's Adam Donnenfield 2026 Preseason Tournament with a 1-3 record.
