Girls D-II: Crismon went from almost nothing to a state championship
February 22, 2026 by Andy Morales, AZPreps365
Crismon finished in 18th place last year with only 32.5 points. Madison Maselli was the only wrestler to stand on the podium when she took fourth place in the 145-pound division. The Rattlers recorded four points in 2024 and seven in 2023. This year, Madison Maselli won a state championship (152) and she was one of three to do so. In all, six wrestlers from Crismon stood on the podium with the Rattlers pulling off a 154-105.5 win over Somerton.
Matches of note: Somerton freshman Annette Preston (185) joined her brother Jayden (115) with a state championship. They became the fourth set of brother/sister siblings to win a state championship. Walden Grove sophomore Isabella SantaMaria (138) won her second championship and she knocked off former state champion, Wickenburg senior Peityn Codding to earn it.
There are five graduating seniors and the seven remaining champions will be joined by 2025 state champions (107: Iliana Arenas, So. Marcos de Niza), (114 Kaliyah Molina, So. Yuma Catholic) and (126 Carli Jones, Jr. Monument Valley) next year.
Crismon picked up a state championship in only its fourth year as a high school. The wins kept coming this year and it all came together on Sunday. #azpreps365 pic.twitter.com/rAPvMhyC7V
