Hamilton girls, Mtn. View boys shine at Antigua Golf invite

It was a highly successful school from Hawaii that won top honors, but Hamilton's girls and Mesa Mountain View's boys recorded second-place finishes at the 2012 Antigua National High School Golf Invitational played at McCormick Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale last Friday and Saturday (Sept. 7-8).
Punahou High from Honolulu, Hawaii won both the girls and boys divisions. Mesa Mtn. View finished 11 shots back of Punahou and Boulder Creek was third 17 shots behind. Hamilton's girls fell six shots short of Punahou (597-603) and Xavier Prep was third at 618.
The individual champ was Boulder Creek's Brandon Bone with a total of 138. PJ Samiere of Punahou was second at 140 and several golfers checked in at 141, including Boulder Creek's Alec Bone and Mountain View's Hayden Webb. Other golfers from Arizona schools finishing in the top 10 were Mountain View's Chad Hardy (144), who shot the tourney's low round of 65 on Saturday and Perry High's Brandon Carlson (144). Also helping Mountain View to the second-place finish were Jake Gerard and Tyler Webb.
On the girls side, individual honors went to Punahou's Kaci Komoto (144). Komoto shot by far the tourney's best round with a 68 on the first day. Runner-up was Xavier's Hannah O'Sullivan (146) followed by Hamilton's Saki Iida (147) and Mikayla Harmon (148). Also helping Hamilton to its runner-up finish were Yesong Han and Helen Kim. Salpointe's Krystal Quihuis also cracked the top 10 at 149.
