March 30, 2025 by Andy Morales, AZPreps365

Mountain View battled back to beat Verrado 2-1 in the championship match of the View Invitational held on the Mountain View campus in Marana Saturday afternoon. The Vipers took the first set 25-21 and led 17-12 in the second before the Mountain Lions came alive.
Mountain View led the first set 16-13 but Verrado went on a 12-4 run the rest of the way to go up 1-0 but the Mountain Lions returned the favor in the second set. Verrado went up 17-12 on an ace from Seth Doerr but a service error, a net violation and an ace from Bryant Sorensen flipped momentum. A block from Oliver Scott would tie the set at 18-18 and then Mountain View pulled away to tie the match up at 1-1 with 25-21 victory.
Verrado came out and took a 1-0 lead in the third and deciding set but net serve was followed by a block from Ty Morrow and then the Vipers committed a net violation and that was followed by a block from Hunter White and Mountain View took a commanding lead at 5-1 in the set scheduled to go to 15 points.
The Mountain Lions would build a 10-7 lead but the Vipers had one more push and a kill from Cole Doerr cut the lead down to 10-9. Blocks from Scott and Morrow followed however and Mountain View pulled out a 15-11 win to take the match 3-1.
Mountain View finished 6-0 at the tournament and Verrado went 4-1.
