Mountain View punctuated a grind of a regular season with a 70-64 win over rival Mesa High Thursday night, and may have forced a detour in the Jackrabbits postseason path.
Jackson Woolley led the Toros with 21 points while Bryson Gundry added 19 for Mountain View (14-11, 7-3), which used a 13-2 fourth quarter run to seize control of the game.
Mesa freshman Kyi Kyi Miles matched Woolley's 21 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Jackrabbits cold-shooting fourth quarter, going 0-6 during the Toros 13-2 run.
"This is one of our biggest wins of the season," Woolley said afterward. "I feel so much joy right now and I'm so happy. We've put in so much work...on the track in the gym every night and it all paid off tonight. No matter what happens we're always the best conditioned team on the court."

Red Mountain clinched the East Valley Region title Tuesday night against Mesa (18-7, 7-3) who then entered Thursday's game one spot out of the Open power rankings at 33, and No. 17 in the 6A bracket. The 'Rabbits will have to wait until Saturday morning when final seedings are announced to see if they make it into the Open 32.
Mountain View will likely have to qualify for the 6A playoffs by way of a play-in game next week. But Thursday's win excorcized a few demons for this Toro squad, which lost a handful of close games down the stretch this season, including its first contest at Mesa after leading by 10 at halftime.
"I'm proud of our kids tonight especially the way they played down the stretch," Mountain View coach Andy Johnson said.
"This game means a lot to a lot of people. Mesa's a great young team and it's a great way to finish the regular season. "We've led and been close in so many games because these kids work and play so hard, so finishing this one is a great feeling."

Mesa guard Jarren Galarza scored 14 points for Mesa while Daijon Grayson added 11. Galarza hit some timely 3-pointers, including one right before halftime that gave the Jackrabbits a 31-28 lead, and an off-balance buzzer beater at the end of the third quarter for a 46-42 lead. Gundry started the Toros 26-point fourth quarter with consecutive 3-point plays before a Levi Tingey field goal and a 3-pointer from Myron Christensen gave the Toros a 55-50 lead with four minutes left to play.
