Rounds 16-40 of MLB draft yields 12 with AZ high school ties

The final day of the 2012 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft ended Wednesday afternoon with 12 more Arizona prep players selected who just finished high school or who played at schools with local college ties.

Leading off  the day in the 17th round was Mesa Mountain View pitcher Willie Ethington, who was taken by the Boston Red Sox. Ethington is an ASU signee. Two rounds later Boulder Creek pitcher Tony Blanford was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies. Blanford also has signed with ASU. 

The rest of the picks from Wednesday's rounds were: Hamilton High's Jorge Flores, (shortstop Central Arizona CC, 19th round Toronto); Pueblo's Robert Ravago, (pitcher ASU, 22nd round to Miami); Brophy's Beau Maggi (catcher ASU, 24th round by Kansas City); Catalina Foothills Preston Jamison, (pitcher South Mountain CC, 30th round to Detroit); Brophy's David Graybill, (pitcher, 31st round to Los Angeles Dodgers); Mountain Pointe's Jordan Kipper, (pitcher Central Arizona CC, 31st round to Philadelphia); Highland High's Max Rossiter, (catcher ASU, 32nd round to Pittsburgh); Millennium's Zachary Livingston, (pitcher Arizona Christian U, 34th round to Los Angeles Angels); Desert Mountain's Rustin Sveum, (shortstop, 39th round  to Chicago Cubs) and Desert Ridge's Taylor Kaczmarek, (pitcher South Mtn CC, 40th round to Kansas City).
