No. 24 ALA-West Foothills upsets No. 9 Pusch Ridge 49-44 in overtime

No. 24 ALA-West Foothills upset No. 9 Pusch Ridge 49-44 in overtime Tuesday night on th road to advance to the second round of the 3A state playoffs. ALA-West Foothills (14-11) led 29-24 at halftime, and 37-27 with about two minutes left in the third quarter, but Pusch Ridge (18-8) went on a 13-3 run through the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime at 40-40.
Izabella Juarez scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Guardians but Sarah Roberts scored all five of her points in overtime to help ALA-West Foothills outscore the Lions 9-4 in the extra period. The Lions had several chances up close in regulation and in overtime but the team was unable to connect. Cambrie Owen added 12 points for the Guardians.

Noelle Sunukjian led the Lions with 13 points, Sierra Gifford and Sedona Dietrich scored ten each and Nicole Njoroge added eight.
The Guardians will play at No. 8 Coolidge (16-9) Friday night in the second round. The Bears had a first round bye.
