Scottsdale Christian pitcher Dylan Tims closed out his four-year varsity career Saturday night with a bit of perfection.

Not a perfect game mind you, but perfect to the tune of a 10-0 pitching record in 2026.

The senior right-hander picked up five runs of support in the third inning after trailing briefly 1-0 and the Eagles went on for a 7-3 victory over Benson to win the 2A state baseball title at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

The win is Scottsdale Christian's fifth state championship in its history and its third in the last seven years. The Eagles didin't drop a 2A game this season, finishing with a glossy 26-2 record.

Benson concluded its season 18-13-1 under coach Fred Trujillo, whose seventh-seeded team upset Round Valley and San Tan Charter in the playoffs.

Scottsdale Christian coach Dillon Eaves praised Tims effort and claimed his best trait is summed up in one word.

"Steady, he's so steady", Eaves said. "I think he has a lifetime ERA here of 2.00 and he's 10-0 for us this year now. I had him on my sixth-grade team, and I could see back then he had potential."

Tims' final line for the game -- seven innings pitched, seven hits allowed, three runs (two earned), no walks and eight strikeouts.

Scottsdale Christian batted around in the third inning. The Eagles scored five runs to answer a short-lived 1-0 deficit.

That rally was a combination of four hits and four Benson errors. Tims and Colton Stravitz delivered RBI singles for SCA in the inning.

Benson had the makings of a couple threats in sixth and seventh innings, but both flamed out. Back-to-back singles by Dawson Judd and Rowley Evens leading off the sixth resulted in just one run scoring.

An error and two Benson singles in the seventh were all for naught thanks to a 6-4-3 double play turned by SCA.

Benson finished with seven hits and was led by Kolttin Deskins and Judd with two hits apiece. Seven of Benson's eight hits were singles.
