Twelve days ago Perry knocked off top 6A Premier Region foe Brophy by nine points on the Broncos home floor. On Thursday the Pumas were even better the second time around.

#1 Perry took the mystery out of its rematch with #2 Brophy by halftime. The Pumas built a 19-point lead at intermission and went on to a 78-55 victory before a packed house at Dan Serrano Gymnasium.

Perry clinched the region title with the victory. The Pumas are 24-1 overall and 7-0 in the Premier. They finish the regular season Friday at Hamilton. Brophy's regular season is over (20-7 overall, 6-2 in region).

Perry's 1-2 punch of 6-foot-8 senior Cody Williams and 6-8 sophomore Koa Peat led the way per usual. Williams tallied 25 points and Peat added 19. They each scored 12 points in the first half helping stake the defending state champions to a commanding 41-22 lead. Brophy was unable to make a run at Perry in the second half in an attempt to possibly share the region lead.

Brophy managed to stay close after the first quarter,. The Broncos trailed 18-13 and had six players scorea basket each in the quarter. With 6:34 left in the second period, Perry hit its stride. The Pumas opened up a double-digit lead at 24-14. Brophy wasn't able to cut the deficit under 10 after that.

Brophy's leading scorer - senior Arman Madi - averages in double-figures for the season. He  was limited to six points in this one. He made one field goal - a three in the first quarter. No Brophy player scored in double figures. The Broncos were paced by Daylen Sharper (9 points) and Conner Ivy and Ayden Madi with 7 points apiece.
