Desert Edge senior Eva Heinz shot a 3-under-par 70 on Monday at the Division II state tournament taking place at the Omni Tucson National Catalina Course. Heinz enters the second round with a 2-shot lead over Ironwood Ridge senior Zoe Newel. Cactus Shadows senior Nikki Kato and Millennium senior Isabell Junio shot an even 73. Salpointe junior Lily Huether and Casteel sophomore Jordin Cowing are currently tied for fifth place with a 2-over 75.

As a team, Casteel leads Cactus Shadows by two strokes and Desert Mountain is some 18 strokes back.

Heinz tees off at 9:50 a.m. on the first hole on Tuesday. The first group tees off at 8:30 a.m. and the last group at 10:40 a.m.
