Hamilton collected a eight hits Wednesday, but the Huskies' bats weren't needed much as it battled 6A Premier Region leader Brophy Prep.

Hamilton took more advantage of 11 walks in pummeling Brophy, 12-2. The game ended via the 10-run rule with no outs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

"We walked 11 guys and we've never done that ever," Brophy coach Josh Garcia said. "I think part of it was out of respect for how good a hitting team they are. Wasn't a good day for our pitching."

The loss was the first this season in region play for Brophy, which is now 13-8 overall and 5-1 in region. Hamilton improved to 17-3, 4-1 and has been busy of late. The Huskies played in a national tournament in North Carolina last week where they won two of three games. They are  2-0 in their return to Arizona the past two days.

Logan Saloman settled in after a rough first inning when he allowed both Brophy runs. Two hits, a hit batter and error combined for the tallies. Saloman struck out the side to escape the first and fanned five in the first two innings. He gave up two hits over the last four innings and finished with six Ks and no walks.

Hamilton answered Brophy's 2-0 getaway in the first inning, trumping it with three runs. Leadoff hitter Gavin Turley homered to straightaway centerfield - a blast clearing the 390-foot sign. Two walks and RBI hits from Ryan Kucherak and Kole Klecker made it 3-2 and the lead the rest of the way for the Huskies.

Saloman picked up more support in the third. Hamilton used three walks, a wild pitch and a Zach Wadas sacrifice fly to extend the margin to 5-2. The Huskies set 10 batters to the plate in the fourth and scored six more runs. Four walks and three hits, including three RBI from Saloman via a bases-loaded double, just about finished the Broncos. Kucherak's second RBI the next inning ended the contest.

Both teams close action for this week on Thursday. Hamilton hosts Casteel in a non-region game and Brophy is home for a region contest with Chandler.
