It wasn't an overpowering performance offered by Chandler pitcher Aiden Schumaker, on Monday afternoon, but the results speak for themselves.

The Wolves senior right-hander pitched a complete-game, five-hit shutout and got help offensively from a late five-run rally in an 8-0 triumph over 6A Premier Region rival Perry at Chandler High.

Schumaker gave up four hits -- all singles - in the first three innings. He allowed one hit over the final four innings and escaped a two-on jam in the fourth to maintain the 1-0 lead his teammates afforded him. Schumaker walked none and struck out four.

The flood gates opened for Chandler in the fifth and sixth with seven of their eight runs. A five-run rally in the sixth was capped by center fielder Tate Scott's grand slam, his ninth home run of the season. Scott is in the midst of a huge season at the plate. He's batting .516 with 31 RBI. Half of this 32 hits in 2022 are for extra bases. He added a double and finished 2 for 3 at the plate on Monday.

Chandler scored runs off each of Perry's four pitchers who saw action. The Pumas Stryder Salas, who started, allowed one run in three innings. Sam Boesen gave up two runs in two innings, Dylan Butler four runs in 1/3 of an inning and Luke Stanley one run in 2/3 innings.

Chandler improved its to 15-4-1 overall. The victory was its first in region play where the Wolves are 1-3 - two losses to Hamilton and one to Brophy Prep. Perry is 10-7 and is 0-3 in region with its other losses both to Brophy.
