Notre Dame Prep rolled to its fourth straight, double-digit victory behind double-figure scoring from four players in beating host Seton Catholic, 78-59, in a 4A non-region boys game on Friday night.
Notre Dame Prep boosted its record to 7-2 blowing the game open early in the second quarter with an 8-0 run. That run took its lead of six after the first quarter to 14 (31-17). Seton was never able to cut the lead to single digits the rest of the game. NDP outscored Seton, 24-13, in the second period. Seton fell to 1-7.
Leading the way for NDP were freshman Bryce Quinet and sophomore Anthony Batson Jr. Quinet connected for a game-high 27 points - 21 in the first half. Batson finished with 23 points - 14 of those after intermission. Senior guards Brandon Nacario and Ian Clay netted 10 points each for the Saints.
Seton gave a good account at least for the opening quarter. The Sentinels played even the first five minutes (9-9) and trailed 23-17 at quarter's end. Senior Jackson Adlhoch nailed two threes and junior Jake Morris added five points in the tight quarter.
After that is was all NDP. Quinet scored 13 points in the second quarter. The Saints lead reached 31-17 with five minutes left in the period and to 47-30 by halftime.
NDP takes a couple weeks off for the semester break and resumes game action Tuesday Jan. 4 at home vs. American Leadership Academy Queen Creek. Seton's next action is at Higley High School in the Epic Tourneys New Year's Classic Dec. 28-30.
