Former Chaparral head coach Charlie Ragle was hired lead Idaho State on Friday. "Today's a new day for ISU football," Ragle said during his initial press conference. "The past is just that, it's not about where you've been, but it's about where we are going as a program and a university."

Former Idaho State coach Rob Phenicie was let go on November 20. The Bengals finished 1-10 this past season. Former Mesa Mountain View kicker Kevin Ryan is a junior for Idaho State.

Ragle started out as an assistant for Moon Valley High School and he was on the staff when the team won the 4A state championship in 2004 after going 14-0. Ragle moved over to be an assistant at Chaparral in 2005 but he became a graduate assistant at ASU in 2006. He returned to lead Chaparral from 2007 to 2011 where he went 63-7. He led Chaparral to state championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011 with a combined 41-2 record in that time.

Ragle was hired by Arizona in 2012 in several assistant capacities before moving over to be an assistant coach with Cal in 2017.

Ragle graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1998.
