Mtn. View rebounds for win at Great Western Shootout

Mesa Mountain View bounced back Friday night from an opening-round loss to defeat Canyon Spring High (Las Vegas, Nev.), 66-54, at the Great Western Shootout boys basketball tournament in Orem, Utah.

Mountain View forward Cam Boone followed up a 27-point effort in the opening game with 33 points against Canyon Springs. Boone was 11-of-13 from the field and 11-of-13 from the free-throw line. Payton Dastrup added 10 points and Brian Butler had nine for Mountain View.

Mountain View improved to 6-2 and concludes play in the tournament on Saturday at 5 p.m. against nationally-ranked Lone Peak HS (Highland, Utah). Lone Peak, the defending 5A champ in Utah,  was upset on Friday night by host Orem, 57-51.
