2A North Region hoops: Alchesay, Hopi, Valley, St. Johns advance in tourney

2A NORTH REGIONAL TOURNAMENT
BOYS HOOPS
The 2A North Regional boys' basketball tournament began on Tuesday night at the site of the high seed.
The tournament continues on Friday in the Round Valley Dome with a pair of semifinal games on tap. The loser's of the semifinal games drop into the consolation bracket, playing for third/fourth place on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The semifinal winners play for the regional tournament championship on Saturday at 7 p.m.
No. 1 Alchesay Falcons topped No. 8 Greyhills Knights, 99-37, in a first round contest in Whiteriver.
No. 4 Hopi Bruins stopped No. 5 Round Valley Elks, 51-35, in Hopi.
Valley Sanders Pirates, No. 3 seed, outlasted No. 6 Pinon Eagles, 84-42, in an opening round game in Sanders.
St. Johns, No. 2 seed, knocked off No. 7 Many Farms Lobos, 56-31, in St. Johns.
Tuesday's regional tournament first round survivors advance into the semifinals on Friday.
St. Johns faces Valley Sanders at 4:30 p.m. in one Final Four game. Alchesay meets Hopi at 7:30 p.m. in another semifinal contest.
Admission for all tickets is $8, with no re-entry. An $8 admission for daily pass, with re-entry permitted. Ages 5-and-under are admitted free of charge. AIA passes is honored.

GIRLS HOOPS
The 2A North Regional girls' basketball tournament hit the floor for first round action tonight at four different sites.
After first round games, the site shifts to Round Valley Dome on Friday and Saturday.
No. 1 St. Johns entertains No. 8 Greyhills Lady Knights at 7 p.m. No. 2 Valley Sanders Lady Pirates hosts No. 7 Many Farms at 7 p.m.
No. 4 Hopi Lady Bruins faces No. 5 Round Valley Elks at 5:30 p.m. No. 3 Alchesay Lady Ealcons meets No. 6 Pinon Lady Eagles at 7 p.m. in Whiteriver.
The first round winners advance into the semifinals on Friday at Round Valley Dome.
The Alchesay/Pinon winner takes on the Valley Sanders/Many Farms survivor at 3 p.m.
The St. Johns/Greyhills winner meets Hopi/Round Valley survivor at 6 p.m.
The semifinal loser's meet for third/fourth place on Saturday at 2 p.m. The regional tournament championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
