Opponents aret trying to slow top-ranked Desert Vista's boys basketball team. They just can't do it.

The Thunder reeled off its 10th straight victory Thursday night winning a second road game in three nights with a 58-47 triumph over No. 3 Hamilton at Hamilton.

The perimeter marksmanship of guard Desean Lecque was the difference. The 6-foot sophomore sank all 6 of his three-point attempts, part of a 27-point night.

"Yes, the key tonight was Mr. Lecque," Desert Vista coach Gino Crump said. "He's a great shooter. They mixed up their defenses, but I think we did a good job and were ready for it."

Desert Vista  is now 21-2 overall and 14-1 in power-ranking games. Its overtime win Tuesday was against No. 2 Highland. The Thunder are zeroing in on the top seed, which this year gets to host as many as three state tournament games, including the semifinal round. Hamilton, which was No. 1 just two weeks ago, dropped its fourth game in a row. The Huskies are 14-7, 11-4 prg.

Lecque was a menace from the start. He made three 3s in the opening quarter helping Desert Vista to an 18-11 advantage. Lecque entered the game shooting 44 percent from three-point range. He made two treys in the second half. He fouled out with 1:32 to play after scoring 15 points in the final two quarters. Teammate Andrew King added nine points for Desert Vista with three 3s accounting for his total.

Hamilton managed to pull closr by halftime with perimeter play from Jamar Brown and Christian Valle cutting the margin to 28-24. They combined for 17 points in the half. Valle was Hamilton's top scorer for the game with 20 and Brown added 16. Hamilton stayed close enough to make it a game after three quarters.

But Lecque sank 4 of 4 free throws with 6:16 to play extending Desert Vista's lead to 48-38. No runs of note were to follow from Hamilton.
